Tis true.

Caught my first whiting of the season last month off the harbour. No great size, but after all there whiting. A night time high tide is needed to get them, down the side of the wall at the end. Can also get Pouting in the harbout itself at the beakwater.

Re: Rumour of Whiting, Carrick harbour

im a regular vivitor to gone fishin, also i am in the threemilewater conservation and angling association, i just read in this forum of a rumour or whiting and sea trout being caught from the harbour. i have read about sea trout and even salmon being caught by the harbour in other angling information sites for the area, not so sure about the salmon, but our river has had sea trout runs in the past, and before the pollution incident in february 2007, we had a good lot of sea trout returns i have heard from my fellow anglers in the club. our sea trout patrol the shores of belfast lough lookin for a bit of grub. the aim of our club is to work towards the restoration of sea trout stocks in belfast lough, as a sea angler as well as a game angler, i would love to hear of people actually catching sea trout from the sea around our local area, but i would love to hear that the sea trout were returned instead of anglers taking home an undersized sea trout for the glory of catching one! if this was common place on the lough, possibly in the sea trout stock would make a good recovery in it. i also have to say that the threemilewater river is club waters only. as far as i know the books are still open for new members, if anyone is interested visit this website
